VACANCY: Operator

UM Terminals is a leading provider of bulk liquid storage solutions, operating multiple terminals across the UK for sectors including food, chemicals, agriculture, and energy.

We are currently recruiting for an Operator for UM Terminals, Regent Road, Liverpool. This is a 12 months fixed-term contract. If you feel you have the skills required as per the below Job Description please apply to vicki.brough@umgroup.com

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

· To carry out specific duties as required by the duty Terminal Supervisor / Asst Supervisor, in a safe, efficient and timely manner.

· To assist the company and the management in enforcing the various SHE policies as may be specified from time to time.

· To be proficient in carrying out all road and ship loading / discharging operations.

· To be proficient in carrying out inter tank product transfers, in a safe and efficient manner.

· To comply at all times with the company's procedures and work instructions as specified in the ISO 9001 - 2000 Quality Management system.

· To be proficient in all operational procedures, as laid down in the safe systems of work, that are specified from time to time by the Company.

· To be competent in carrying out a variety of operational tasks associated with the safe handling and storage of products.

· To report immediately any defective equipment to a senior person (Assistant Supervisor, Supervisor, Site Controller, Terminal Manager, Port Manager) or the Maintenance staff.

· To report any incidents to his / her superior as soon as practicable.

· To be an active, reliable and flexible team member, and to undertake any training courses as required by the company.

· To comply with all Statutory requirements affecting the bulk liquids industry as specified by the Company from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

· Gained sufficient experience within the Bulk Liquids industry to be a competent operator.

· Gained adequate knowledge in the performance of all duties associated within bulk liquid storage and processing.

· Been suitably trained in the correct operation of all equipment associated with a bulk liquids terminal.

· To have achieved a reasonable standard of education and preferably to have been educated to GCSE or A level standard with a minimum of 3 GCSE’s in Maths, English and Science.

· To be prepared to undertake further educational studies / training.

· Physical fitness is essential for the type of operational duties required.

· A current driving licence would be an advantage but not essential.

· The ability to operate IT equipment and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office would be advantageous.
