Colleagues from across the United Molasses Group will run next year’s Liverpool Half-Marathon in memory of Lynn McCoy.
A team of runners from all seven of UM Terminals’ facilities, for whom Lynn worked, and the wider UM Group will take part in the event on Sunday, March 17.
The UM team will be raising money for the Samaritans of Liverpool and Merseyside, the charity that is there 365 days of the year, day or night, to help people who are struggling to cope.
The Liverpool branch of the Samaritans is the second oldest in the UK having been supporting people for over 60 years. The charity’s listening service is delivered entirely by over 130 dedicated volunteers along with a paid development manager and administrator.
Lynn, UM Terminals’ Client Central Services Manager, was a much-loved colleague as well as being well known to customers. She had worked for the company for over 30 years.
After the race on March 17, the runners, their families, friends and colleagues from UM Group will join Lynn’s family for a lunch to remember her.
Geraldine Carroll, UM Group’s HR Training & Office Manager, said: “We have a number of keen runners in UM Group and we thought this would be a good way to remember Lynn and also raise vital money for such a hugely important cause.
“The Samaritans are an incredible charity, manned by volunteers every day of the year, helping people who are struggling to cope. We hope that the fundraising we do by running in the half-marathon will help to support the vital service they provide to so many people.”
We will provide further updates regarding the UM team’s fundraising and how to donate in the run-up to the half-marathon.
